Lava and Micromax, both the domestic vendors recently added new entry-level Android smartphones to their portfolio. Lava launched the Iris 465 that comes with support for 21 regional languages. Micromax on the other hand added the Bolt A82 to its fleet, which offers support for 20 regional languages. The Lava Iris 465 and Micromax Bolt A82 are priced at Rs 4,499 and Rs 5,499 respectively.

The Lava Iris 465 features a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, while the Micromax Bolt 82 has a slightly bigger 5-inch screen with the same display resolution. Design-wise, the Lava Iris 465 looks much better with a chrome finish on each of the sides of the device, while the Bolt A82 comes with a usual plastic body. In addition, the Lava Iris 465 is offered in two variants – black and white. Both smartphones have capacitive touch buttons at the bottom of the display.

Performance

The Iris 465 and Bolt A82, both of the smartphones are powered by 1.3GHz dual-core processors, further supported by 512MB of RAM. So, in the performance section, they offer similar user experience. The Iris 465 is backed by a 1,750mAh battery, which as per the brand delivers up to 22.5 hours of calling time on 2G networks. The Bolt A82 on the other hand has a slightly bigger 1,800mAh battery, which offers 200 hours of standby time and five hours of talk time. So, even the Iris 465 is loaded with a slightly smaller battery, it is rated to deliver a lot higher hours of calling time over the Bolt A82.

Software & Storage features

On the software and storage front, the Lava Iris 465 and Micromax Bolt A82, both the devices offer similar features. They run Android 4.4 KitKat and carry 4GB of internal storage on board, which can be further increased by up to 32GB via a microSD card. Overall, both the smartphones are loaded with mediocre software and storage specifications.

Camera & Connectivity

The Lava Iris 465 is equipped with a 3.2MP primary camera with an LED flash and a VGA front snapper. The Bolt A82 on the other hand offers better camera features including a 5MP rear shooter with an LED flash and a 0.3MP front-facing snapper. However, connectivity options on both the devices are same including dual-SIM slots, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
